DESCRIPTION:  The Roundtable is excited to partner with the Urban Institute and the US Census Bureau to present an workshop on how nonprofit executives can make data work for their organizations. Attendees will learn how staff can be more effective at resource prioritization and grant-writing by using Census data to inform outreach strategies and describe community needs. You'll also learn how Census data can help your organization gain insight into your community's social, economic and housing characteristics by offering comprehensive data for local communities on an annual basis.  In addition, there will be an overview of the Urban Institute/NCCS Community Platform and its tools for helping nonprofit organizations and communities work more effectively together. In the second part of the presentation, presenters will demonstrate how it can be used to map resources and needs in a community using a combination of the U.S. Census and local data on community indicators and nonprofit organizations and programs.
