Join George Mason University's Center for Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy and Policy, Nonprofit NoVA and YNPNdc as we host Suzanne Birch, for a discussion on the challenges and opportunities she explores every day through her work with food provision, member-volunteers and nonprofit management.
What started out as one bag of bread at Suzanne and Barry Birches' tiny house has now become a warehouse of more than 22,000 square feet where they gave away 6 million pounds of products last year. The products came from nearly 100 manufacturers, retailers and growers. At the heart of this enterprise are 600 member families, most of them still working, but many falling into poverty or near-poverty. Join us for an evening of insight and inspiration with Suzanne Birch---and take away a greater understanding of how a simple idea can transform a community.
All are welcome.
