Elevation, a socially-conscious web design and media firm, is offering the 1 for 1 match for nonprofits - for every dollar your organization spends on web design, programming, or other related media work, Elevation will match it with a dollar of its own.  In 2012, Elevation will match up to $500,000 for nonprofit assistance, on a first-come, first-served basis.  Learn more and apply here.

Project Empowerment is part of the Mayor's "One City One Hire" Program and provides people who have multiple barriers to employment with work experience and then jobs. By serving as a host agency nonprofits have the opportunity to meet some of their staffing needs while providing valuable work experience for a DC resident who is motivated but needs experience. The host defines the work and any special skills or characteristics that you want the person to possess. DOES prescreens potential candidates and the host selects which person is the best fit. Project Empowerment will do a background check, fingerprinting, drug screening and TB tests at our expense. The project will pay the salary ($8.25 per hour) for up to six months. The work experience is a good resume builder and then we will try to find the person a job. Advocates for Justice and Education offers multiple training and education sessions for parents and caregivers, including "Early Literacy: The Role of Parents" and "A Parent's Guide to Bullying Prevention," as well as sessions for youth such as "Effective Communication and Goal Setting."
