The Nonprofit Energy Alliance is a group of nonprofits in Suburban MD and DC using collective buying power to obtain cheaper and greener electricity. This is not a formal or contractual entity. Participating nonprofits can expect savings of 10 – 15%. Launched in May 2010, the Nonprofit Energy Alliance is now comprised of 64 leading-edge nonprofits that will collectively save an estimated $536,000 compared to standard energy service, while supporting clean sources of energy that are essential to protecting our environment and building a new economy. The wind power purchased through this alliance offsets about 40 million pounds of CO2, which is equivalent to removing 3,500 cars off the roads. View our presentation to learn more.
Why is This Important? When community needs are at an all time high and funds to support essential services are so scarce, this is an opportunity to save money on a fixed expense while doing good for the environment.
