Together we solve problems that no organization can solve alone.

East of the River Media & Communications Training

East of the River Media & Communications Training works with nonprofit leaders in Wards 7 and 8 to strengthen their communications techniques and skills including: writing opinion editorials, crafting effective elevator speeches, conducting successful on-air and radio interview sessions, and telling stories that advance their mission and strengthen their organization.

Through hands-on workshops and sessions with local editors and reporters, participants are able to diversify and embolden the voice of the nonprofit sector, raise awareness about issues that affect communities East of the River.

Over time, our goal is that these leaders will help shape public debate on issues important to their organizations and ensure that the work of East of the River nonprofits is more accurately and more often portrayed in the local media.

Goals of the program:

  1. To diversify the voice of nonprofits in local media;
  2. To develop the skills of East of the River nonprofits to be better represented in media:
  3. To create opportunities for media to better access nonprofits East of the River.
